Meet
Liza Cushnir
Hi! I’m Liza Cushnir, and by the time you’re reading this, I’ve probably graduated from the University of Michigan. I majored in Public Policy with a focus on Sports Policy and Equity, and I minored in Writing (which is where this Capstone project comes into play). Outside of the classroom, I spent the bulk of my time on campus writing and editing for The Michigan Daily sports section. This semester, I’ve been interning with the University of Michigan’s Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and sports have always been a pretty significant part of my life. Beyond playing and watching sports and working out, I like to spend my free time cooking, reading, and trying/learning new things. I also love puns, dogs, and card games, and I’ll rarely say no to something involving any of the things I’ve mentioned in this paragraph.
I hope to go to law school (sorry Dad!) in a few years and work in public interest law. In the meantime, though, I’ve accepted an offer from the Peace Corps to serve as a Youth Development Volunteer in Costa Rica after graduation, and I’m beyond excited!
Thank you so much for checking out my project and reading about my journey to recovery! If you want to keep up with any of the endeavors I’ve discussed throughout this website, feel free to check out my LinkedIn, Strava, or cooking account, or contact me at lcushnir@umich.edu.
