Running for the first time in a week and it’s active recovery day, so I am just going to run. I was excited to see how far I’d be able to run, I had a feeling it would be my new record distance. When I got on the treadmill, things felt great. I did most of the run at 5.5 miles per hour, significantly faster than my normal speed. In my head, I wanted to run three miles even though I knew that would be a pretty big increase, but I figured I would try. I thought I might be able to, until I got to the 1.8 mile mark. My leg felt really good, but I started to get a cramp in my side. That made sense given that I was running faster and farther than I had before, but it was a weird feeling to be limited not by my leg, but by my stamina. I wanted to see how far I could push myself and if the cramp might go away, which they sometimes do for me, but it wasn’t getting any better as I kept running. I reduced the speed a little bit for the last part of my run and realized 2.5 miles was the furthest I should push myself today. That was still a pretty great feeling, my new longest distance by half a mile. And my the time I finished my cool down, I had reached 3 miles anyway through running and walking.
