I ran outside for the first time today, it was weird. I played basketball with friends for a bit and then decided I might as well take advantage of the decent weather and go for an outdoor run. I just ran a mile, but it definitely is very different to run outside then on the treadmill. It honestly took me more than half of the mile to get used to it, and I never fully did. When break is over and the weather gets nice, I’m definitely going to need to start running outside more, maybe do all of my run days outdoors.

I met with my old physical therapist today, who is my consultant on this project. She’s a big runner, so it was great to get to pick her brain a bit for advice and to update her on my recovery progress since being discharged from physical therapy. She stressed the importance of running outside, which is why I decided it was important to take advantage of the good weather and go for a run outdoors today. And of course, she was right. It was really different running outside compared to on the treadmill. I’m glad I realized this now so I can spend time and effort relearning how to run outdoors as well.
